Throwaway Queen is a WIP written in 2017 and my NaNoWriMo brainchild. To learn more about my novel, read on.
What’s your book about?
For being a queen, Anjali survived well in the wilderness for the past two years. She protected her infant child she bore in a gypsy camp after her carriage was ambushed and everyone in her party perished.
While she expects to return home with open arms and the highest praises, she realizes that her first love and the king of Makaar has already married another. She returns scorned, confused, and revengeful. Meanwhile, her killer is still on the loose.
What will she do and what lengths will she go to find her assassin and get her husband back?
What makes your book unique?
A lot of the uniqueness of this novel is spoilery, but I can tell you this: I wrote this novel with intersectional feminism in mind. Anjali is a young mother of two children, but she also trains her mind and body and values her nobility. She stands out from the rest of the court because she believes she can really have it all—and she does until her travel party is sabotaged.
You’ll see in the novel that because Anjali is so blunt and communicative of her wants and wishes, it creates unexpected friendships and decisions that don’t come from regular court intrigue plots.
Who would be interested in reading this book?
I wrote this novel for all my young mom friends. I’ve always wanted to see a young mother as a strong, confident protagonist. You’ll enjoy this novel if you’re a fan of motherhood, feminism, and royal intrigue.
Beyond intrigue, the novel has adventure, mystery, and fantasy world building.
