Time for another Weekend Writing Warriors snippet. Every Sunday, I join a bunch of writers through a blog hop and post an 8-sentence snippet of my current project. You can click on the link to see what everyone else is up to.
Leute, we are hopping around again. I’m rewriting this current scene as a part of fulfilling two writing goals: April’s Camp NaNoWriMo and #AprWritingChallenge.
This scene takes place even further towards the beginning that the other sections. At this point, Ilsi thinks that the Yildirims, a secret, corrupt police, just want her to be a part of their army for conquering’s sake. Now she’s learning a bit more about the leader himself and perhaps why they are really hunting her down—from the most unlikely source: Gürsel, daughter of the Sea King.
“There is a man, named Althod, the leader over all of the Yildirims, who wishes to possess all four powers to add to his strength,” Gürsel said.
“Lady Ladala already told me a bit about this,” Ilsi said. “But why would he even try?”
“To have all four powers, it would make you more powerful than every living creatures’ powers combined. To be able to possess all four would be,” Gürsel explained, “like being what you humans call a god.”
“A god?” Reshma whispered, “But people can’t become gods, can they?”
“You’re asking one who doesn’t believe in a deity in the sky, but in the waters,” Gürsel replied smugly. “Besides, those powers are dangerous enough alone, to combine all four is foolish and stupid.”
Check out my other snippets here. Read my next snippet next Sunday. And comment below if you’ve got a snippet to share as well!
I really enjoyed this, love the idea of gathering up powers until becoming a god. Like your character names too, by the way! Excellent excerpt!
Oh wow, thanks for the compliments! And thanks for reading. 🙂
Love your complex and interesting worldbuilding here!
