Hey, everyone! Time for another Weekend Writing Warriors snippet. Every Sunday, I join a bunch of writers through a blog hop and post an 8-10 sentence snippet of my current project. You can click on the link to see what everyone else is up to.
Lotte decides to tell her parents of her of her strange predicament. Well, not literally, but she’s not going to keep it a secret. As a result, this snippet is probably how any mother would react to her children being cursed . . . right? Lotte’s mom is truly one of my favorite characters. That, and Ben, if that’s not clear enough.
“Boys!” she roared. Within a few moments, all of my brothers were back in my room; even the older ones didn’t dare lag behind. Behind them stood my dad, totally unaware.
“What’s with the family meeting in Lotte’s room?” he asked. For a moment, my mom ignored him. She flipped gaze back to look at me, her wavy brown hair following. She was looking at me, but her words were for everyone,
“Someone better tell me in as few words as possible what is going on and what Chris has to do with this,” my mom said, “or I will lock all of you in this house and go find him and beat the you-know-what out of him.”
“You can say ‘shit’ in front of us, mom,” Ben sniggered, but she held up a warning finger in his direction.
Oh, brothers. Check out other snippets here. You can also learn more about the novel, Speechless, here. Don’t forget to comment below if you’ve got a snippet to share as well! Compliments and constructive insight are equally welcome.
Great snippet. Those last two lines made me laugh. 😀
That sounded like my mother. Five foot two and a force of nature. Great snippet!
Great snippet! I can just picture the family scene going down.
Her mother is totally the stronger character in this house. I can see she can be relied on. That’s best when you’re curse I guess.
That’s what I hope for her character. Thanks for reading/commenting!
