Time for another Weekend Writing Warriors snippet. Every Sunday, I join a bunch of writers through a blog hop and post an 8-sentence snippet of my current project. You can click on the link to see what everyone else is up to.
First off, hope this snippet finds you well! I hope you’re not confused or frustrated with the back and forth posts. I’ve been all over the place with whatever needs my attention. This past week I’ve been working on the scene where Ilsi realizes that Tyk is in the Beast Forest with the enemy’s insignia, too. Saqui found him first and subdued him so Ilsi could heal him up and get a better idea of what’s going on.
“Who the hell are you and how did you find us?” Reshma said, unsheathing her sword with the blade directed at his throat.
“Ilsi? Don’t you remember me? It’s me, Tyk!” the young man said firmly.
“Stop it, Reshma!” Ilsi screamed. “I’ll freeze you to death if you get any closer.”
Reshma threw down her sword and stared back, horrified. Reshma didn’t say anything and looked at anything else besides Ilsi.
“No one has to be upset,” Tyk tried to reason calmly. “Ilsi, it’s really me—”
“You sure as hell better be Tyk,” Ilsi said, her fists encrusted and frozen over with ice, “because if you’re false in any way, I will send you to whatever gods you believe in.”
And there you have it! If looks could kill, right? Check out other snippets here. And comment below if you’ve got a snippet to share as well!
It sounds like Tyk had better be very careful and very convincing. I”m not sure why Ilsi is freezing over, but it seems intriguing. And cold. 🙂
Dramatic excerpt! Will be interesting to find out what happens next…
