Time for another Weekend Writing Warriors snippet. Every Sunday, I join a bunch of writers through a blog hop and post an 8-sentence snippet of my current project. You can click on the link to see what everyone else is up to. Travis will give you his snippet tomorrow to spread things out. Expect separate posts from us this week and from here on out.
Surprise, this actually happens a scene after last week’s snippet! Ilsi and Tyk separate after a heated argument, and Ilsi decides to woman up and find him and finish the conversation—hopefully on a good note, right?
“What’s wrong?” Tyk said, finally getting up.
“The kiss.”
“Am I that bad of a kisser?”
“Do you have feelings for me?” Ilsi said, looking up, “Because I’m starting to think I have feelings for you, and I know that the Yildirims have and will use my affections for you against me.”
“You’re upset about them more than the Animan thing?” Tyk said, his ears reddening under his hair.
“If they do something to you to get to me, I would never forgive myself,” Ilsi said.
“You’re talking nonsense,” Tyk answered.
“Well, you explain to me what the kiss was about,” Ilsi began, “because I can forgive you hurting me since I knew you weren’t in your right mind. But if your affections aren’t real—”
There was a bit more exchange in between these lines, but I cut out what I could to keep it at eight sentences. But it basically ends with a most literal “kiss and make up.” Check out other snippets here. And comment below if you’ve got a snippet to share as well!
Will he need to explain every kiss?
Oh boy, that would get real old real fast, huh? The reason why this one is so important to Ilsi is because it was technically their first kiss. It was also happening when Tyk wasn’t himself—if you read past posts this was when she found out he’s an Animan and turns into an wolf. So she wants to clarify what that kiss meant because she didn’t know if he really meant it or not.
I love how blunt she is about the whole situation. It’s hard to bring up “business” at a moment like that, but once it’s out of the way, there can probably be more, relaxed kissing. 🙂
Having explain himself sounds like it could be more dangerous than she suspects… Still, it sounds like they’re making it work somehow.
I like the way she keeps her head and wants to be sure they’re on the same page before there’s a lot more kissing! Great snippet…
Right? Ilsi is the person I wish I was when I started dating. Like, “Let’s not dodge the subject–do you like me, yes or no? I don’t have time to wonder about it!” 🙂
