If you thought I only listen to eight podcasts, think again! I had to share some more of my favorite podcasts that I’ve found over the past month or so. I hope you enjoy my recommendations—I’m constantly impressed by the talent that’s out there. It’s all for free, too!
If you’re ready for part two, then read on. Click here if you’re curious about what I shared in part one. Have you found any new recent podcast gems? As always, we’re all ears in the comment section!
Feel-Good Podcasts on Life & Creativity
The Goal Digger Podcast: Jenna Kutcher is a wedding photographer, but she’s more well-known for her rising empire as the go-to hub for entrepreneur advice. She has a lot of great advice for branding and marketing if you’re looking to make bank off of your creative streak. Seriously, her podcast episodes are life-changing.
Slate’s Dear Prudence: Are you a sucker for drama or crazy life stories? Dear Prudence is an indulgence podcast where Prudie answers letters in the style of Ask Annie—but with extra sass and swears. I like how she handles letters with inclusiveness. She also brings in a lot of interesting cohosts that help her best navigate these hairy questions that her fans throw at her.
Podcasts for Writers
Well Storied: If you aren’t already a fan of Kristen Kieffer’s work, jump on this bandwagon! She’s the popular source for writing and publishing resources and she uses her podcast to read her blog posts. So if you like her work but absorb information better by listening to it, then you’ve found the right podcast.
Write Now with Sarah Werner: This is a very popular and delightful podcast for writers. Werner provides a lot of insight on the writing and publishing process. My favorite episodes surround the #writerslife where she explains time management, motivation, and SEO. She also interviews authors and editors in her “Coffee Break” episodes. I’m always really impressed by her professionalism and heart.
Myths and Legends: This podcast tells the actual stories of fairy tales and myths with humor, research, and sass. This podcast is great if you’re looking for story ideas, you’ll love listening to these stories. There’s also a segment at the end that highlights a weird mythical creature—from past folklore or modern tall tales.
Podcasts for Politics/Feminism
Hellbent Podcast: I’m not gonna shy away from the fact that I am a feminist. So I naturally gravitate towards something like Hellbent. The hosts rehash the news from the week, highlight grassroots efforts and local politics, as well as rant about politicians and their motives. They include a gratitude check, as well as actionable tips on how to react to certain political issues.
The Guilty Feminist: If you love feminism and British humor, then listen up. This podcast is basically a recording of a stand-up comedy show run by Deborah Francis White. She usually has a diverse cast of other guest comedians who share their views on feminism, recognizing they aren’t always perfect. Each episode usually tackles a gender issue as opposed to current events.
Never Before with Janet Mock: Janet Mock is a transgender woman that just started a podcast about interviewing super amazing women and basically just listening to their life stories and their thoughts on race and gender equality. I mean, she managed to interview Beyoncé’s mom, so she’s got connections! These are just delightful interviews of strong women supporting strong women.
