So thanks to everyone who supported me on Facebook, Twitter, this website, and in person while I was in the midst of my Camp NaNoWriMo goals. I can’t believe I got so far! I unfortunately didn’t make the 50,000 challenge, but as of now, the current word count stands at 10,868. Pretty proud of every last word.
The good news is that I now have that much more than I did before! I’m that much closer to finishing Destiny Seeker (I shorten it to DS as a pet name). Having the challenge certainly made writing more of a prerogative or part of my schedule—if I wasn’t writing, I was certainly thinking about it.
I also nailed down some scenes that I was stuck on; that’s probably the main achievement. A lot of it had to do with talking it out with Travis to think of what would work and what would be embarrassing.
I could also say that during this month, I was more inspired than the previous months on what to write. As in, since the scenes were in my head, or I was looking at the manuscript more often, I just thought of what to put in the dialog, or how to describe a setting. I just took what I got and ran with it.
So now that July is over, what is a writer to do? I just found a great challenge called #AugustWritingChallenge. Simply put, the challenge is to write 500 words a day. That’s it! Or hey, way easier than NaNoWriMo, which is around 1,500 words a day. You can participate mainly through Twitter by letting everyone know how you’re doing. There’s also a Facebook page for more dialog.
Today is still August 1st for many of us! If you’d like a feasible challenge, use these links to get going! I’ll update my progress through this website and through my Twitter feed via @witty_whitters.
Happy Writing!
