Hello, authors and readers alike. I’ve got quite a few things going on and I’m unsure if my email newsletter or social media can really do it justice. So hey, check out the things that we have going on. We appreciate your support as we’ve really ventured into new, fun projects within the past few months.
YassStitch Etsy Shop
Yes! As many of you know, I started an Etsy shop called YassStitch. It’s been a long time coming! The goal is to make cross stitch samplers that fit in with indie bookstagram images. Quotes, character lists, title pages, symbols—I’m ready to stitch it. So far, I don’t have any commissions going on but as you can see, I’m already pretty busy. But I spent a lot of time making commissions for other indie authors so they could show off my work. Right now, you can favorite the Etsy shop or you can follow along on Instagram or Facebook.
New Degree Press
Yes! I’m an MRE (Marketing and Revisions Editor) for New Degree Press. I’m learning a lot about hybrid publishing and I love my authors so so much. I just want them to succeed and shine. I honestly didn’t know there was a perfect job out there for me (besides being my own boss via Wit & Travesty) but apparently, I am super-mega qualified and fulfilled by guiding these authors through the whole process. I was working part-time for Boostability, so with my extra hours with NDP and my W&T work, I am truly editing all day.
Wit & Travesty Editing Availability
I have sort of mentioned this in other areas but here is the official take: I am booked for the rest of the year. With my work for NDP and some upcoming projects, I can’t take on any more W&T editing jobs. A great problem to have, right? Travis is still available and has some slots open. I’d highly encourage that you reach out to him if you need any editing work done in the near future.
The Job Hunting Continues
So, fun fact: Travis found the NDP position for me. He was qualified for the position but it wasn’t full-time and it didn’t come with benefits. (Thank you for the dream job, babe!) Travis is still looking for a writing- or editing-related position. Even though Travis is constantly applying for jobs, it would mean a lot if our bookish community could help him connect with his dream job. While you can always work with him as a freelance editor, he’s ready for the full-time work. We’d feel more prepared to move out of Utah (*cough cough* literally any other state will do) once Travis secures this job. So if you’re embarrassed for us and how long we’ve lived in Provo, you know how to help us out, haha.
Throwaway Queen 2nd Draft
If you can even believe it, I’m still working on my own stuff. And it feels good! I got a tremendous amount of work done in July via Camp NaNoWriMo. I’ve got about 5 chapters left before I’m done with my second draft and I get to send off my work to my go-to editor. (Yes, that’s Travis.) If I could have a fully polished draft by the end of this year, I’d be happy to share my New Adult novel with y’all in 2022.
Free Audiobook
Y’know, I almost forgot to add this but it’s true. I recently released a free audiobook for Destiny Seeker: The Messenger. I probably forgot because my brother, Jordan Olsen, did all the heavy lifting—I did all the announcing and celebrating. Jordan is the voice behind the audiobook. You can click here to listen to the audiobook via Spotify and other platforms. It’s an audiobook but in podcast form, so you can listen to the book one chapter at a time. This is a gift from my brother but it’s really a gift for you! We hope you listen, enjoy, and leave reviews. Reviews on the print books are especially helpful!
So, that’s it! It’s a lot, so I get it. Thank you so much for catching up with us and supporting us. If you want the news as it comes, we’d appreciate it if you signed up for our newsletter.
[…] coming out this year! Last year, I picked up a lot more editing work at New Degree Press (read here for that update), so I was working on everyone else’s books except my own. This year is […]
